Clarifications on rules:

1.1
A player’s turn begins with receiving the passed dice. Players are allowed to play any development card (for example, a
Soldier / Knight card) before they roll the dice. No other actions may occur prior to the rolling of the dice.
1.2
Once the dice are rolled, the dice roll must be resolved before any other actions are taken.
1.3
Players are not allowed to build a road beyond a settlement or city of another player.
1.4
Players are allowed to upgrade a settlement to a city in the same turn it is built. To do that, the player cannot have five
settlements on the board before building the settlement the player wants to upgrade.
1.5
If a player buys a development card with a victory point on it, he may immediately reveal it if it is his tenth victory point to
win the game. This is only possible with development cards that have a victory point printed on it. Players are not allowed
to immediately play a soldier / knight out of turn, even if this means that the player would get the largest army and win the
game. The player must wait until his or her next turn before playing the soldier / knight.
1.6
There is no distinction between the trade and building phase.
1.7
A harbor may be used the same turn that a player builds on it.
1.8
If there are not enough resource cards of one kind to give every player the resource cards he should get after rolling the dice,
then nobody will receive a card of this kind. The other resource cards are handed out to the players as usual. If only one
player gets resource cards and there are not enough cards of this kind in stock, he will receive all available cards of this kind.
1.9
It is not legal to intentionally show your resource cards to any other players outside of cards displayed for trade during a
players trading phase. If shown, this information is public until the end of that trading phase.
1.10
A player has won if he or she has 10 or more victory points (although only 10 will be counted for the ranking) and it is the
player’s turn. If a player does not notice that he or she has 10 points, the player must wait until the next turn before winning
the game (assuming no earlier player wins, and the player still has 10 points).
1.11
The robber is in effect as soon as the game begins, from the first throw of the dice. There is no “grace period” before the
robber is moved. The robber MAY be moved back to the desert during the game (new with the 4th edition English rules).
1.12
If a player forgets to move the robber, the robber will be:
a) placed on a field of his choice, if it is still the turn of this player. The active player can then, according to the rules of the
basic game, draw a resource card from the hand of another player, provided that the active player has assembled yet no
cards or made an exchange with other players in his turn.
b) placed on the desert field, if the turn is completed. There must be no card is pulled by a teammate.

chips returned to the supply.
Hand limit of 3 saved cards.
Only 1 bonus tile can be claimed each turn.

Elimination round starts at 11am

Elimination round will be 4-player or 5-player games

If there are 2 elimination games, then the top 2 will proceed to the finals else only the winner will proceed

The finals will start at 4pm

Standard rules of the game applies

Faction/Player Mat Selection: Faction mats and player mats should be randomly paired for each game, just like any game of Scythe (if Rusviet/Industrial is randomly paired, reshuffle). Auction each pair of mats, with players bidding coins to be deducted from their end-game score (e.g., if I bid $10 to claim a certain pair, at the end of the game, instead of scoring $80, I would score $70). I recommend using a rule implemented during the Gen Con tournament that says players may not bid on or use the same faction in the tournament. So if you play with Polania in the first round, you cannot play with them in any future rounds if you advance.

Scrabble is being co-organised by our partners – Wordaholix

Sudoku tournament will start at 3PM

Basic Instructions & Clarifications

  1. It is allowed to solve with pen or pencil, and it is allowed to have markings and rough work in the cells and around the grid. Just make sure that one number is clearly visible (be it bigger or circled) than any other markings.

  2. Electronic devices are prohibited during the competition.

  3. You will only get points for a Sudoku if all empty cells are properly filled consistent to the rules provided for the Sudoku. If even one cell is left blank or incorrect, a 0 will be awarded. Therefore, it is advisable to spend the last few minutes of your time to check, at least for blank cells which can be quickly and easily avoided.

  4. If you finish before the time allotted, please silently raise your hand and the paper will be collected. IF every Sudoku is correct as above, a bonus will be awarded of 2 points per minute saved. IF there is a single small error (up to 5 cells empty/incorrect) in exactly ONE Sudoku but the other three for the round are entirely correct, while that one Sudoku still gets 0 points, a partial bonus of 1 point per minute saved will be awarded.

  5. Please do not disturb fellow participants.

  6. The Sudokus are assigned points according to an estimated difficulty. Personal experience may be different but the points are a rough indication of how hard a Sudoku is compared to another one in the round.

  7. The competition will have a single round, 40 minutes long, with the Sudokus given below.

Additional Notes:
The following pages will contain the types that will appear in this competition. In addition to normal Classic Sudoku there are also some variants. Variants are just Classic Sudoku with an added constraint or rule. One can solve them like a Classic Sudoku, but must then also consider the added restriction along with that.

Please note that you are NOT expected to solve all Sudokus. This is not an exam that you need to ‘pass’. Just attempt whatever you are comfortable with, and do that correctly.

To make the rules less repetitive, you will see following line “Apply standard Sudoku rules” in most Sudoku rules. This means “Place a digit from 1 to 9 in each empty cell so that each digit appears exactly once in each row, column and 3×3 box.”

Note: Solutions are provided at the end, these Sudokus can be used for practice.
